    Agung-bali-nirwana

    Our frangipani trees are everywhere!

One of our guests joked we should call ourselves "Jepun Bali Villas", due to the large number of "Jepun" (Frangipani) trees we have around the grounds. From the local sacred Jepun tree (yes, really, we have the village's sacred Jepun tree within our far corner temple), to the 3 main types (colours) of Jepun / Frangipani trees that surround each of the villas' private bales. To the small Jepun tree that graces the small island in the middle of our swimming pool. We have these beautiful plants everywhere. If it were not for another guest saying we should call ourselves "Lily Bali Villas" because of all the lily ponds we have. We might have "had" to consider renaming ourselves to Jepun Bali Villas!

cultural balinese children's group performing the ramayana

putu wearing balinese kabaya and kamben sarong

Here is our star model again, seven year old "Putu" from the village, in her traditional Balinese dress (the top is called a "Kabaya", the sarong bottom a "Kamben").

aerial picture of our living coral reef in bali

This photo clearly shows we have one of the finest stretches of living coral reefs in this, and for that matter, any area of Bali. It is a virtual snorkeller's paradise, with many types of colourful fish as well. And even though we have a pure water swimming pool. Our guests often prefer just to swim in the clear blue waters offshore.

Unlike other areas, where the reef has been destroyed to make concrete or poisoned / bombed by fisherman after aquarium fish. Ours has been left to flourish.

Also seen here, are the wonderful, unspoiled, coconut groves of this region. Not many neighbours, not many buildings, not much traffic. Just wonderful fauna and friendly locals.

unbeatable standards & design, unbeatable villas location!

One of the most reflective (literally and figuratively) photographs we have of Villas Agung Bali Nirwana. Here you can see the tranquil beauty of the lotus / fish ponds that surround each villa and their private, thatched dining / rest Bales (pavilions). Enjoying the natural shade of the palm trees (we were so careful to make sure we only cut down those we absolutely had to), and looking out to the Bali Sea. Here you can see the 3 tier stone fountain, where water gently cascades down to help keep the ponds aerated. And where the stepping stones keep both the villas and the bales safe from a range of wood be invading insects (such as ants), who will have to evolve a little bit more before they can breach our natural defenses.

But is not just about tropical villa designs keeping "creepy crawlies" out. It is also about creating one of the most relaxing places to sit and watch the world go past in Bali. Whether you call this "Feng Shui" or simply a "lovely spot", it does not matter. To help that sensation at night. Here also you can see one of our garden (real) candle holders, used to spectacular effect on special occasions. What is the only thing that is missing? Yes, you probably have guessed the answer. It's "you".

watch this fisherman catch your gourmet dinner!

From the comfort of Villas Agung Bali Nirwana, you can watch the local fisherman in their colourful "Jukung" boats. Using just line and lures / feathers (no nets) to catch your dinner just beyond "our" pristine coral reef, in some of the cleanest waters around the world. They beach their boats / set off from the local sea temple, just 100 meters from the villas. So it is almost certainly impossible to buy fresher / highest quality fish anywhere else in Bali!

A whole range of fish are often caught, from fine Tuna like these, to snapper and other reef feeding fish that make for excellent BBQ's or grills.

peaceful haute cuisine / gourmet's retreat location

In Indonesian "peace" or "peaceful" is called "damai", and here you see our beachfront Damai Restaurant setting, for our famous outdoor fresh fish BBQ's (our regular haute cuisine menu also available). With the thousands of stars you can see, to the distant kerosene lamps of the night fisherman, to the gentle onshore breeze. Also, unlike other gourmet retreats, we do not limit our menu to a single meal choice each evening. It is hard, perhaps impossible therefore to find a better and / or more peaceful / damai restaurant in Bali.

somewhere to drink fresh coconut milk in bali!

Although the private "Bales" (like the one you see in the background) are very popular, as they allow you to watch the sea / world pass by and catch every last breath of cool ocean breezes. The large villa verandahs are extremely popular too. An area which leads out from each villa's kitchen via large sliding teak & glass doors. Here a bench (of course padded, with Sunbrella material, and with Thai style corner cushions) runs along the front and side wall. It is a wonderful place for a private daytime siesta / nap. Plus a great place for the children to play one of the many board games we have in our kiddies "library".

A solid teak table (and we mean solid - where else have you seen such thick wood these days) is a perfect place to enjoy a drink, without worrying so much about falling backwards with excess into the ponds! Or for playing chess (we have one of the finest carved wood chess sets in Bali) or cards. Of course, also, as it shows here. It is also a great place to have your fresh coconut drinks put ready. So you can take a photograph like this one and make the family and friends back home truly envious!

bali villas with teakwood furniture virtually everywhere!

Our villas, restaurant, spa and grounds are virtually bursting at the seems with the highest quality, solid teak wood furniture from Bali (timber from and kilned in Java). Here you see one of the 6 seater tables and chairs used in each villas' private dining / relaxation bale. Softened with stain and elements resistant "Sunbrella" fabric cushions, and completely open to the sea breezes. We are very proud of our highest quality tables, chairs, lounges, etc. and how little it cost us! Please note, our staff are more then happy to show you the invoices from the renowned Balinese furniture supplier we use to show you what your target price would be if you decided to buy anything to export back home (neither our staff nor the management at Agung Bali Nirwana make any commission from this - it is simply done as a guest service).

feng shui and insect control in one!

While one of our guests joked that we should call ourselves Jepun Bali Villas due to the large number of Frangipani trees in our grounds, we once considered calling ourselves Lotus Villas Bali because each of our large 3 bedroom villas are built over lotus / fish (coy carp, etc.) ponds. Here you can see just that.

As well as doing this to provide elements of Feng Shui (peaceful, water settings), it is also done to control insects. You see, the easy / standard way to control insects is to use chemicals, but we don't do that at Agung Bali Nirwana. We simply built the villas over beautiful, relaxing ponds which are rich in Coy Carp and other brightly coloured fish (which like to eact insects and their larvae). At the back, just obscured by a palm tree, the water is pumped back and gently falls back into the main pond area, reminiscent of the small waterfalls used in Balinese rice fields. This action, plus the 3 tier stone fountains that grace the private dining bales, keep the water aerated and healthy.

agung bali nirwana's pure water pool & spa

Here you can see just how clear the water is in our swimming pool, set against the backdrop of our unique Sea Spa. Here also you can see the children's section of the pool with its submerged shelf barrier from the main pool section.

highest quality marble floors and teak furniture

This is one of the three villa's children's bedrooms. As you can see, it has the same luxurious mosquito nets (not that we believe you will need to use them) and curtains as the other two bedrooms. By using solid teak "bunk beds" (one single bed over another), plus traditional (Wayan Kulit & Wayan Golek) puppets and kites adorning the walls and ceiling. We have hopefully created a special place for your young ones. The bunk beds also means there is a large amount of floor space, where the kids can play in safety and cool breezes (of course, there is an air conditioning unit hidden behind a louvered section of the solid teak fitted wardrobes, just like the other bedrooms).

The bedroom can also be used by an adult, instead of children. As the beds are full length mattresses still. And just like the other rooms, we have used top quality, imported mattresses, brushed Egyptian cotton sheets, and goose down rich pillows. By using fully each bedroom, a villa can accommodate 6 people (maximum 5 adults). The Children's Bedroom shares the second bathroom.
